Why renewal is required
An LEI must be renewed every twelve months to remain active in the global LEI system.
The renewal confirms that the legal entity information is still correct and up to date.
What you need to do
To renew, log in to your NordLEI account and review your entity details.
You will be asked to confirm or update information such as:
Registered address
Legal name
Company status
Parent entity information
Other reference data that may have changed
Any changes should be corrected during the renewal so the published LEI record remains accurate.
When an LEI is considered active
An LEI is considered active for:
Twelve months from the initial issuance, or
Twelve months from the most recent renewal
If the renewal is not completed in time, the LEI becomes lapsed. A lapsed LEI can affect regulatory reporting and may be rejected by financial institutions.
Please note: An LEI cannot be renewed if the company is no longer legally active, for example due to a merger, liquidation, bankruptcy, or similar legal status change.
If the entity is inactive, we can update the LEI to retired through a data challenge. If you no longer require the LEI code, you can ignore future reminders to renew.
How to search for your LEI
To search for your LEI, you have a few options. You can go to our website, https://nordlei.org/, click the magnifying glass, and search for either your company name or your LEI code.
You can also search directly in the GLEIF registry here: https://search.gleif.org/#/search/
