A Challenge is a request to update or correct the reference data of an existing LEI record.
You can submit a Challenge if you believe that information on an LEI record is incorrect, outdated, or missing.
When should I submit a Challenge?
You should submit a Challenge if an LEI record contains incorrect information, such as:
- Incorrect legal name
- Outdated address
- Wrong entity status, for example if an entity is marked as dissolved incorrectly
- Incorrect parent entity information
- Other incorrect Level 1 or Level 2 LEI data
Who can submit a Challenge?
A Challenge can be submitted by:
- The legal entity itself
- A service provider
- A regulatory body
- Any third party that identifies incorrect LEI data
How does the Challenge process work?
- Submit the Challenge from your user account in the Challenge tab, or contact support at support@nordlei.org.
- The LOU reviews the request and checks the information against public sources.
- If the information is confirmed to be incorrect, the LEI record is updated.
- The updated information is published in the global LEI database.
How long does a Challenge take?
Most Challenges are resolved within 1 to 3 business days, depending on the complexity of the request and whether additional documentation is required.
